New Kirby and the Forgotten Land Trailer is ADORABLE

One of the games of 2022 that I am very much looking forward to is Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the first major 3D Kirby game. A new trailer for the title dropped on January 12th and along with a release date March 25th, 2022, we were given new info from the trailer.

Co-op has been a major thing in the Kirby games way back from Kirby Super Star. The world in Forgotten Land looks positively massive and while I'm sure this will make for an outstanding solo adventure, Kirby won't have to explore it alone. Bandanna Waddle Dee was showing off lots of spear throwing action. Not sure if other characters such as King Dedede or Meta Knight will be playable or lots of other characters such as what we saw in 2018's Kirby Star Allies, but it's cool that Kirby won't be the only one treking through this strange yet familiar world.

Rather than mercilessly slaughtering Waddle Dees like you would in every other Kirby adventure, it looks like you'll be rescuing them, or a portion of them, anyway. In the trailer you can see some Waddle Dees fleeing for their lives only to get caged up. The description for this new trailer on Nintendo's official YouTube channel mentions rescuing Waddle Dees from the Beast Pack, so it's sounding like they've replaced Waddle Dees as the Goombas for this title. Perhaps there will be some Waddle Dees as enemies. I mean, is it really a Kirby game if you aren't punching a Waddle Dee in the face that was sleeping or minding its own business?

And because others have made a big deal about it, I think I'm obligated to mention it: Kirby has a gun in the new trailer. Yeah, it's a gun made in the usual Kirby fashion, but it is still a gun. Kirby is also holding it like a gun. Keep in mind that Kirby has destroyed 14 gods. So what does Kirby with a gun mean? Now he can kill gods and look like a gangster doing it. I'm about it.

Like any Kirby game, Forgotten Land looks like it is going to be overflowing with cuteness. If you're allergic to anything adorable, stay far, far away from this game. Kirby and Bandanna Waddle Dee smiling gives me so much life that I had to make it the picture header for this post.

There also appears to be a Waddle Dee town. It looks like Kirby can work part time there or something, I'm not sure. It is a change of pace to see Kirby around a bunch of Waddle Dees and not, ya know, murdering them. My guess is, the town will be something you build up over time as you rescue more Waddle Dees. Whatever the case, I'm looking forward to seeing how this town is formed and everything you can do in it.

One of the best things I saw in this new trailer was Kirby fishing. They could have just had Kirby fishing and I would have been perfectly fine with that. He's sitting down with the fishing pole, looking cute as ever. But he's doing all that with a fishing hat!!! That makes it ten times better!!! This is next level Kirby stuff, people!

Kirby and Forgotten Land is shaping up to a fantastic 30th anniversary game. An April 27th, 2022 release date would have made it just in time for the pink puff's 30th birthday, but I'm not complaining. March is gonna be pink AND fun.

Gimme the Kirby fishing already. Come on. Give it to me. GIVE IT TO ME!!!
