VG Soundtrack of the Day 025: Yoshi's Island
Originally a sequel to Super Mario World under the long title Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, it was later categorized as the first game in the Yoshi platform series. For some, Yoshi's Island is still the best Yoshi game. I think I prefer Yoshi's Woolly World over it, but Yoshi's Island is still an amazing game. Yoshi's Island's soundtrack was scored by none other than Koji Kondo. In this soundtrack you can hear what would become the standard new version of the Starman/Super Star theme. There's a hefty amount of happy go lucky music with themes like Flower Garden, Athletic, and Overworld Theme. The three boss themes are all really good but if I had to pick a favorite, of the three, it would be Baby Bowser, hands down. A rock theme for a final battle jam may seem like something out of left field but Bowser also had a rock piece in Super Mario World.
