VG Soundtrack of the Day 001: F-ZERO
The F-ZERO franchise has lain dormant for nearly two decades despite fan demand for it to return. Back in the day, it was perfectly normal for games that released in Japan to have a soundtrack release that usually contained the original audio and some arrangements along with them. Super Mario World and the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, also early SNES games, received this treatment but F-ZERO did not, or at least not in the same way the two more established Nintendo IPs did. Instead, the futuristic racer got an album consisting of solely arrangements of the game's music simply titled F-ZERO. The original SNES audio is fantastic stuff but this F-ZERO album is certainly nothing to scoff at. This arrangement album is a heavily jazz themed, which may seem strange to those more familair with the series big emphasis on rock and metal, two genres the F-ZERO games fully embraced with the release of F-ZERO X on the N64. I firmly believe that this is one of those albums that you can enjoy even if you aren't familiar with the original tracks.
