VG Soundtrack of the Day 010: OutRun Original Soundtrack

Yesterday's soundtrack was pretty beefy, so I thought we'd go with something that isn't so long winded. When it released some 30 years ago, OutRun was a very unique beast. It wasn't so much a racing game, rather it was a driving game with your only real opponent being the clock. The game features a total of 15 stages but you can only play through five of them on any run. After each stage, you'll come to a fork in the road and this is one of the things that separated OutRun from so many other racing/driving games at the time. Players loved OutRun's no liner approach as well as the incredible Latin inspired soundtrack. Before starting a run, player could choose between three songs, all of which offer a sublime listening experience, though many say Magical Sound Shower is the best OutRun tune (it's really Splash Wave). Over the years, OutRun's soundtrack has been expanded upon from the initial 3 songs for driving. The soundtrack I've selected for today's listening is the 2014 release, OutRun Original Soundtrack, which was originally divided into 3 releases but is available on Spotify as one album. It contains the original 1986 arcade music, two new tracks form the Nintendo 3DS version of OutRun and the excellent music from Turbo OutRun.
