Last week, I wrote a blog entry, expressing my annoyance for the overabundance of remixes for songs like Dr. Wily Stage 1 from Mega Man 2. Sure, it's a great track, but there are a plethora of other Mega Man songs that deserve to be remixed. Rather than continue to whine like an upset fanboy about the matter, I'd decided to do something about it.
Now as much as I love game music, I cannot make a beat to save my life. However, I have made a hobby of compiling my own custom video game music albums over the last year. After much thinking, I decided it was time to share some of these compilations with the world, the Mega Man fans in particular. That's where Mega Remixes comes in.
Mega Remixes originally started as a single album compilation, but as I found more songs, it was bumped up to another album. Then I found even more songs. As I write this, I've found enough song to make 8 or nine albums. I'm finishing up Mega Remixes 7.
The songs on Mega Remixes come from Mega Man fans all over the world. Finding songs for these albums reinforced how awesome the music for Mega Man games is and how much people really appreciate it. When I say "music for Mega Man games" I'm not just talking about the Classic series. X, Legends, Zero, ZX, Battle Network, the whole shabang. The music in Mega Remixes spans every series of Mega Man games. There's rock, techo, jazz, funk, and even 8-bit rendtitions. No doubt that you'll have heard some of these remixes before, but I'm sure some will be new to you. While I was looking for songs, I came across a lot of remixes that I hadn't heard before.
The idea for Mega Remixes was to shine the light on other Mega Man songs that don't have a too many remixes. As such, there isn't a single remix for Dr. Wily Stage 1 from Mega Man 2 on any of these albums. The same thing goes for the Title Screen music for Mega Man 3. If you can do without those songs being prescent, or you just like hearing sweet Mega Man beats, I think you'll really enjoy these albums. I'd like to thank all of the remixers for making dope Mega Man remixes and Capcom's sound teams for making such memorable themes so the aforementioned remixers could make said remixes. These albums wouldn't be possible without either one of those.
