Capcom to Revise On-Disc DLC Distribution

You'll still have to pay for the 12 extra
fighters in Street Fighter X Tekken.
Gamers have made it no small secret that they were not happy with the way Capcom went about avoiding a Super/Ultimate edition of Street Fighter X Tekken. Rather than release a new version of the game, the company opted to lock 12 characters on the disc for purchase at a later date and sell them as downloadable content.

Capcom senior VP Christian Svensson had this to say on the matter.

"We would like to assure you that we have been listening to your comments and as such have begun the process of re-evaluating how such additional game content is delivered in the future. As this process has only just commenced in the past month or so, there will be some titles, where development began some time ago and that are scheduled for release in the coming months, for which we are unable to make changes to the way some of their post-release content is delivered."

So the actually re-evaluation won't take affect until sometime later. Some games such as Dragon's Dogma will be released with on-disc DLC.

Even so, I still wouldn't get my hopes up. Bear in mind that Capcom isn't saying that they are doing away with on-disc DLC, just changing the way they go about releasing it. And even the statement provided doesn't give us a straight answer on how that will be done. We'll just have to wait and see.
